Rural Law Online A guide to the law for Victorian Primary Producers

How to make a complaint to EWOV

  1. First, you must try to resolve your problem with the electricity, gas or water provider directly. Contact details for providers can be found at the Energy and Water Ombudsman Victoria website - www.ewov.com.au.
  2. If you cannot resolve the dispute with your provider you can then make a complaint directly to EWOV. You can use the online complaint form at the Energy and Water Ombudsman Victoria website - www.ewov.com.au or you can phone EWOV on 1800 500 509 (free call). EWOV will investigate your complaint.
  3. EWOV may decide to dismiss your complaint. However, if EWOV believe your complaint is justified it will attempt to resolve your dispute through discussion and agreement. If the dispute cannot be resolved this way, EWOV may make a determination (for example, ordering the service provider to pay compensation to you) or issue a direction to the service provider (for example, to connect a service or not impose a charge). The value of the determination or direction cannot exceed $20 000 (however, with the consent of all parties, EWOV may make a determination which exceeds $20,000 but does not exceed $50,000).
