Victorian Government and DPI Priorities for Action: Soil Health 2006 - 2009

The Department of Primary Industries has commenced the Priorities for Action designed to address issues of soil acidification, compaction and erosion to avoid environmental damage and losing land productivity.

These priority actions include:

Conducting of research and developing a broad framework for measuring soil health;
Integrating soil health into current land programs;
Working with Department of Sustainability and Environment to define and measure ecosystems;
Assessing the impact of farming practices;
Ensuring government accountability.
